Dorset Apple Traybake

A delightful treat combining tender Bramley apples and rich, buttery cake, perfect for afternoon tea or dessert.

Ingredients

  • 3 Bramley apples
  • 250g self-raising flour
  • 150g light muscovado sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 125g butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a baking tray, then line it with parchment paper.
  2. Peel and core the Bramley apples, then slice them into thin wedges.
  3. Combine the self-raising flour, light muscovado sugar, and cinnamon in a large bowl. Whisk together.
  4. Add the softened butter to the dry mixture. Mix until it resembles fine crumbs.
  5. Gently add the sliced apples to the crumbly mixture and fold them in carefully.
  6. Pour the apple and batter mixture into the prepared baking tray, leveling the surface.
  7. Bake for about 30-35 minutes, until golden brown and a skewer comes out clean.
  8. Cool in the tray for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Slice for serving.
