Ingredients
3 chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
1 cup chicken broth
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
1/4 cup cornstarch
6 cups broccoli, cut into bite-sized pieces
Green onions, sliced (optional garnish)
Sesame seeds (optional garnish)
Instructions
Season the chicken: In a mixing bowl, season the chicken pieces with garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, and paprika.
Mix the sauce: In the crockpot, combine the chicken broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and hoisin sauce. Stir until well blended.
Combine chicken and sauce: Add the seasoned chicken to the crockpot. Toss to ensure all pieces are well coated with the sauce.
Cook the chicken: Cover the crockpot and cook on LOW for 4 to 5 hours or HIGH for 2 to 3 hours, until the chicken is tender and fully cooked.
Thicken the sauce: Remove 1/4 cup of sauce from the crockpot. In a small bowl, mix it with the cornstarch until smooth, then pour it back into the crockpot. Stir to combine.
Add broccoli: Place the broccoli on top of the chicken mixture, cover, and cook on HIGH for an additional 20 minutes. The sauce should thicken, and the broccoli should become tender-crisp.
Serve: Serve hot over rice, noodles, or cauliflower rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired.
Notes
Don’t overcook the broccoli for the best texture. Use low-sodium soy sauce for a healthier option.
